NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015




In pursuance of the above referred letter the BSLSA identified NALSA (Victims of trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015 as theme for the programme in the Month of June, 2016. In line with the minimum plan of action of NALSA and suggested modalities, the BSLSA organized a sensitization cum awareness programme on above scheme on 26th June, 2016 at District Sitamarhi, a mojor source destination for trafficking.

The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta, Judge Patna High Court cum Executive Chairman BSLSA. The District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman DLSA, Sitamarhi, Bihar, the District Magistrate cum Vice-Chairman, DLSA, Sitamarhi, the Superintendent of Police, Sitamarhi were present on the occasion. The District level officials of the judiciary, revenue, social-welfare, police department of Sitamarhi, Panel Lawyers of DLSA and Office Bearer of Bars, representatives of Transgender, Trafficking victims and representatives of commercial Sexual Workers and other participants participated in the event.

In his inaugural address Hon’ble Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta, Judge Patna High Court cum Executive Chairman BSLSA said that due to shared border with Nepal and also extreme poverty, women and children of that area are vulnerable for trafficking. His Lordship also cited numerous cases of trafficking which surfaced in the Districts of Sitamarhi and stressed on concerted effort and effective co-ordination among all the government agencies to tackle the menace.

The awareness programme was addressed by Mr. Suresh Kumar, State Programme Director, NGO Prayash, Mr. H.B.K Singh, Commandant, SSB, Bihar and Shashank Shekhar, Advocate, Supreme Court. Community members of Transgender, Trafficking victims and Commercial Sexual Workers also shared their plight and experience. Boards carrying slogan and text for awareness were prominently displayed at the venue.

The vote of thanks was given by the District Magistrate Sitamarhi.
