22/05/16 :- Inauguration of Legal Services Clinic and Legal Awareness Programme in Tribal Area
After separation of Jharkhand from Bihar as independent state most of the tribal population has fallen within territorial area of Jharkhand. and the population of tribals in Bihar has become only 1.29% of total population of state as per census of 2011. Such tribal population has significant existence in few districts only. One of such districts is Bettiah where population of "Tharu" sect of tribes is about more than 1.5 lakhs at present. In order to provide legal services to such tribals in view of their peculiar and distinguishable legal requirements, one Legal Services Clinic was inaugurated last year (2015) at Village"Maina Tand".
After implementation of NALSA scheme about tribals and considering necessities of one more legal services clinic in tribal area of Bettiah, a Legal Services Clinic was inaugurated at village "Harna Tand" by Hon'ble Mr. Justice I. A. Ansari, Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court on 22/05/16 at 12:30 PM. A Legal Awareness programme was also organised on such occasion in which about 10000 tribals participated. Hon'ble Mr. Justice I. A. Ansari, Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court, while delivering inaugural address highlighted the importance of Legal Services Clinics in community areas and stated that now legal services are at door step of the villagers and it is for them to utilise its services. Hon'ble Mr. Justice Ashwani Kumar Singh, Hon'ble Mr. Justice A. Amanullah and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh also addressed the participants and sensitised them about various schemes of NALSA and also about the benefits of Mediation and Lok Adalat. Sri Om Prakash, Member Secretary, BSLSA, while delivering vote of thanks to the Hon'ble judges and other dignitaries informed the participants that services at Legal Services Clinics is totally free and the participants may also contact State Legal Services Authority directly on Toll free no. 15100.
